How to Configure Your Computer to See File Extensions
A file extension is the part of the name in the file that tells the computer what kind of file it is and which programs are responsible to it.
For example "Letter.txt" is a file with extension 'txt'.

The advantages of showing file extension is whenever you wanna a unknown file to run or open you may detect whether it is a virus or not knowing its file size.

To show file extension in your computer:
  • Go to file Menu bar and click on "Tools" now select " Folder Options". This will open a window like below. This window will appear when you click on View tab
  • In that window click on "View."
  • Scroll down to "Hide extensions of known file types." Make Sure This Is Unchecked
  • Click "Apply" and "Okay" and Done! Then you will be able to see the file extensions.
